 Battle of Wyoming

7/11/2014

Continental Line Event

Picture

A Call to Arms!

The first big battle of the year is coming!
July 12, 2014 - July 13, 2014
This is the first large Continental Line event of the year and is sponsored by the Continental Line and the British Brigade.

Although this event has been designated an activity, the Regiment is scheduled to attend. The Fixed Regiment of Spanish Louisiana plans on fielding the cannon. The cannon needs a minimum crew of 5 artillerists, so we need maximum participation to man the gun. It is important for the Fixed Regiment of Spanish Louisiana Artillery unit to attend the Continental Line events as we are being sponsored to add the unit for full Continental Line membership. We would also like to field Infantry of the Line at the event and would like at least 10 infantry fusiliers to attend.

The Battle of Wyoming will be an active event with lots of action throughout the day.

Please send an email to
laregt1776@gmail.com by June 25, 2014 to let us know if you are coming. Please put "Battle of Wyoming" in the subject line and indicate in your email if you are infantry, artillery or distaff and whether you plan on staying in a hotel or in camp.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Event location:
Hitchcock Road, between Lake Spangenberg Road and Cortez Road
Mt. Cobb, Pennsylvania
GPS Coordinates: 41.443482, -75.471053
Once you exit the Interstate, follow the signs "ESCAPE FROM WYOMING".
All roads should lead you to the site.

The Battle of Brandywine

Picture

May 17, 2014 and May 18, 2014
This is a regional event being hosted by the 43rd Regiment of Foot & Ninth Pennsylvania Regiment
The event will benefit both battlefield restoration & the Wounded Warrior Project
Event website
The 2014 commemoration of the Battle of Brandywine is scheduled to take place at the historic Sandy Hollow Heritage Park in Birmingham Township, Pennsylvania, which is the actual site where a major portion of the original battle occurred and the place where the Marquis de Lafayette was wounded.

This will be the first time that a living history program is being done at this location of historical significance and, currently, there are no future plans to repeat the event at this site. So, this might just be a once in a lifetime opportunity. The site is a large, open, grassy area that declines gently to privately owned woods. Although the area is rural in nature, Sandy Hollow is just minutes from nearby Route 202 and Route 1.

There will be a major scripted battle demonstration on Saturday and Sunday. There are plans for Artillery demonstrations, a parade of flags, an additional "reenactor only" tactical on Sunday morning and a Saturday evening "blanket sale" for participants
. A "Evening With The Troops" from 5PM to 8PM Saturday evening is also in the works with period food and drink being furnished by Dilworthtown Inn, Doc MacGrogan's, Galer Winery, Victory Beer, and Radley Run Country Club.

The organizers should have a complete event schedule by May 1, 2014. The event schedule will be added here once it has been finalized.

The site will provide wood, water, straw, and other amenities. Units may arrive as early as noon Friday, May 16, 2014 to set up camp. Camps will be open to the public beginning at 10AM both days.
Event Location:
Sandy Hollow Heritage Park

                11115 Fort Frederick Road
                Big Pool MD 21711
Exit 12 off of I-70; 15 minutes west of Hagerstown
Time: Thursday through Saturday 9AM to 5PM
             Sunday 9AM to 3PM
Hundreds of reenactors and sutlers selling 18th century wares: paintings and prints; clothing; patterns; fabric; books; camp gear; muskets and accoutrements; hornware; fireplace and cooking equipment; lanterns; tinware; copperware; pottery and more.

The Fort Frederick Market Faire is a good place to shop for period items. If you are new to the hobby, or simply are not sure, please do not but something without checking with another Regiment member or other seasoned reenactor to verify authenticity before purchasing something. Although most of the sutlers make an effort to be authentic, not every item is acceptable or authentic to our reenacting period or Regiment location and not all of the sutlers adhere to strict authenticity guidelines.

The Faire is also a great place to simply stroll in period attire and visit with many other reenactors.

Fort Frederick Market Faire is hosted by the Friends of Fort Frederick State Park and Fort Frederick State Park. A fundraising auction will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of Fort Frederick. Food will be sold at the Faire and there is free entertainment for children.

Re-enactors' troops will camp on the grounds of Battersea and will hold regimental drills, training exercises, skirmishes, and battle demonstrations throughout the weekend.

A call to arms!

A grand Revolutionary War reenactment, the Battle of the Hook, is coming!
The event is happening October 18-20, 2013 and the Regiment is scheduled to attend. Part of the 1781 Yorktown Campaign, the weekend will be filled with historic battles that will be brought to life on the property of the Inn at Warner Hall in Gloucester, VA.

This is a Continental Line, British Brigade, and Brigade of the American Revolution sponsored event.
It will be big! It will be filled with activities! It will be fun!

The Fixed Regiment of Spanish Louisiana plans on fielding both Infantry of the Line and the cannon. The cannon needs a minimum crew of 5 and we would like to field at least 10-15 infantry.

There will be a period tavern set up adjacent to the camp areas that will be open to reenactors for our Saturday night jollification, with games, drinks, and good cheer. The tavern will be manned by reenactor distaff during the day interpreting for the public, with tavern games, and perhaps some light refreshments.

Please send an email to laregt1776@gmail.com by October 10, 2013 to let us know if you are coming. Please put "Battle of the Hook" in the subject line and indicate in your email if you are infantry, artillery or distaff and whether you plan on staying in a hotel or in camp.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
