 British Siege of San Juan

4/24/2015

Annual Reenactment in Puerto Rico

Friday, April 24, 2015 - Sunday, April 26, 2015
Picture
The 1797 British Invasion of San Juan is presented and hosted by the Regimiento Fijo de Puerto Rico
The annual recreation of this historical 15 day battle in Old San Juan is a wonderful opportunity to visit this beautiful, historic city and the majestic Castillo San Felipe del Morro while also supporting our brothers in arms in Puerto Rico. So, if you are able and looking for an excuse to hop off to this spectacular island paradise, put this one on your calendar.
Participants who arrive on Thursday will be treated to an evening wine and cheese welcoming reception at Casa de España. Free accommodations will be available in the Ballajá Cultural Center, formerly the Ballajá barracks. If you prefer to stay off site, there are lots of local apartment rentals to be found at reasonable rates. Most meals will be supplied at no cost to reenactors. Black powder will be provided by the National Park Service.
A $30 fee for the event is required if you are not a member of the Regimiento Fijo de Puerto Rico
Event information, details, and registration forms can be found at:

Big Pool MD 21711
Exit 12 off of I-70; 15 minutes west of Hagerstown
Thursday through Saturday 9AM to 5PM
Sunday 9AM to 3PM
Hundreds of reenactors and sutlers selling 18th century wares: paintings and prints; clothing; patterns; fabric; books; camp gear; muskets and accoutrements; hornware; fireplace and cooking equipment; lanterns; tinware; copperware; pottery and more.

The Fort Frederick Market Faire is a good place to shop for period items. If you are new to the hobby, or simply are not sure, please do not but something without checking with another Regiment member or other seasoned reenactor to verify authenticity before purchasing something. Although most of the sutlers make an effort to be authentic, not every item is acceptable or authentic to our reenacting period or Regiment location and not all of the sutlers adhere to strict authenticity guidelines.

The Faire is also a great place to simply stroll in period attire and visit with many other reenactors.

Fort Frederick Market Faire is hosted by the Friends of Fort Frederick State Park and Fort Frederick State Park. A fundraising auction will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of Fort Frederick. Food will be sold at the Faire and there is free entertainment for children.
